Mike Gentile Named Big 5 Baseball Player of the Week

PHILADELPHIA - Saint Joseph's senior first baseman Mike Gentile (Hatfield, PA/North Penn) was named the Philadelphia Big 5 Baseball Player of the Week on March 26. Gentile is the first Hawk baseball player to earn Big 5 honors this season.

Gentile was rewarded for a spectacular week at the plate. In three games, he notched eight hits in just 11 at bats, going 3-for-3 at Delaware on March 21, 2-for-3 at St. Bonaventure on Saturday, and 3-for-5 at SBU on Sunday. He also drove in a run and scored two.

Villanova's Mike Loree won Pitcher of the Week honors for the second time this season.

Saint Joseph's returns to action on Tuesday when the Hawks travel to Penn for the first round of the Liberty Bell Classic. First pitch is scheduled for 3:30 PM.
