Men's Soccer Falls to Manhattan in Final Minute, 2-1

PHILADELPHIA - The Saint Joseph's men's soccer team suffered a heartbreaking 2-1 defeat to the Manhattan Jaspers in the second round of the 2006 Philadelphia Soccer Classic at Philadelphia University. Sean Morin's goal with under 30 seconds to play gave the Jaspers the win. Morin opened the scoring for Manhattan (2-5-0) with a goal at 6:30. Neither team was able to find the back of the net until the 83:08 mark when Jason Lewis scored his first career goal to tied the game at 1-1. The game looked to be headed to overtime until Morin's game-winner at 89:34. For the game, the Hawks (0-5) tallied six shots on goal. Goalkeeper Joe Bodnar made four saves in the loss. Lewis and classmate Travis Gast were named to the All-Tournament team. Philadelphia won the tournament, with two wins. SJU next takes the field on Friday, Sept. 15 at the University of Pennsylvania. Kickoff is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
