Men's Soccer Plays to 2-2 Tie with Philadelphia Univ.

PHILADELPHIA - John Creed scored in the 82nd minute to help Saint Joseph's tie Philadelphia University, 2-2, in men's soccer action today. The teams played two scoreless overtime periods to end the match in a draw.

Nick White opened the scoring for Philadelphia in the 27th minute, but the Hawks' Chris Powell tallied an unassisted goal at 39:20 to put SJU on the board.

Robert Richardson put the Rams ahead again just two minutes in the second half.

Creed scored the equalizer at 82:31 off a direct kick to send the game into the extra periods.

Philadelphia outshot SJU, 20-12, but Bryan Benedict was solid in goal for the Hawks, making seven saves. Charles Custer made four saves for the Rams while Mike Wallover entered the match in the second half and made one stop.

SJU is now 1-9-2, while the Rams are 5-6-1.

The Hawks head up to New England for an Atlantic 10 weekend, visiting Massachusetts on Friday and Rhode Island on Sunday.
