Men's Soccer Continues Quest for A-10 Tournament Berth This Weekend

Nov. 9, 2007

The Hawks return home to Finnesey Field to take on the Massachusetts Minutement tonight. Saint Joseph's enters the final weekend of the regular season in a tie for fifth place in the Atlantic 10 with Fordham. With 12 points, the Hawks are just two points clear of Dayton and St. Bonaventure, and three ahead of La Salle and Duquesne. SJU hasn't been to the A-10 tourney since 1994 when they lost in the Championship to Rutgers.

The Hawks are coming off a rough weekend after four games on two grueling road trips. SJU went 1-3 against Dayton, Xavier, #13 Saint Louis, and Charlotte, scoring just three goals while giving up 15. Colin Baker had two goals on the road trip, which brought his team-leading total up to six after an overtime game-winner at Xavier and a penalty kick at Charlotte.

The Hawks are 4-13-2 all-time against the Minutemen. The last two matches ended in double overtime 0-0 draws in 2006 and 2004.

Colin Baker leads the Hawks with six goals and Pat Duddy is second with four.

SJU hosts Rhode Island Sunday on Senior Day at 1:00 p.m., ending the A-10 regular season for both teams.
