SJU Men's Cross Country Ties for 12th at NCAA Mid-Atlantic Regionals

The Saint Joseph's men's cross country team finished 12th place at the NCAA Mid-Atlantic Regionals hosted by Lehigh University on Saturday afternoon. Kyle Murray was the top Hawk finisher, completing the 10,000-meter course in 31:16, good for 32nd place. SJU had 368 points as did Lehigh. The team competition was won by Georgetown (42 points) and Bobby Curtis of Villanova was the top individual finishing in 30:08. SJU, who ran four underclassmen of freshmen and sophomores, held their own against tough competition. Sophomore Jon Sclafani (31:51) garnered 70th place, while freshman Brian Guterl (32:05) earned 77th place. Fourteen seconds behind Guterl, sophomore Jimmy Jennings (32:19) finished in 90th place and senior co-captain Will Rowland ended the scoring with his 99th place finish in a time of 32:29. Freshman Ryan Fenimore (144th/33:39) and sophomore George Wittmann (151/33:59) rounded out the Hawk line up. The Hawks next toe the line in their final meet of the season next week at the IC4A Championships at Van Courtlandt Park in New York.
