Women's Rowing Team Ends Fall Season in Frostbite Regatta

Nov. 11, 2007

PHILADELPHIA - The Saint Joseph's women's rowing team closed out the 2007 weason with an impressive performance at the Frostbite Regatta.

The varsity team has already begun winter training, but did compete in three doubles at the Frostbite Regatta. The doubles were selected by winning a doubles tournament over the last week. The race quickly developed into a two-boat race with SJU C (L.Sysol/C.DiSanto) and SJU B (H.Armstrong/A.Easby-Smith). The C Boat held on to win followed by the B Boat, Lehigh in third and SJU A (K.MacTurk/K.McKinley) in fourth.

Next up for the Hawks was the Freshman 4 of Clare Burns (cox), BriAnne Kammerman, Danielle Brady, Amanda Stooks, and Colleen Smith. The Freshman 4 took control of the race right from the start and won the event by more than 40 seconds.

The Freshmen Eights also had strong races against many local and Dad Vail foes. Both eights rowed strong races and pulled away from the pack at the bridge, passing the boathouse in the lead. Both freshman crews finished first in their races, besting very competitive fields.
