Women's Rowing Begins 2008 Winning Three Races on the Schuylkill
March 8, 2008
PHILADELPHIA - Saint Joseph's women's rowing opened 2008 competing at home on Saturday against local rivals Drexel, Delaware and Lehigh in some very fast conditions on the Schuylkill River. The Hawks won the Varsity 8, 2nd Varsity 8 and Freshmen 8 in good battles. The Varsity 4 and Freshmen 4 finished 2nd and 3rd respectively. "With the current we knew that we had to get out early and take control of the races. The boats that did that today won. We are very happy with our results this early in the season, but we have a lot of work to do," said coach Gerry Quinlan. Next up for the Hawks will be the Jesuit Invitational on Cooper River in Pennsauken, NJ on Saturday March 15.
