Hawks Top Lafayette, 6-1, in Women's Tennis

EASTON, PA - The Saint Joseph's women's tennis team made easy work of Lafayette Tuesday afternoon as the Hawks downed the Leopards, 6-1. The Hawks captured the first point of the match in doubles play as SJU earned wins at all three flights to jump ahead 1-0. Individually, the Hawks dominated the courts, winning five of the six singles matches. Senior Stephania Velazquez earned the first point of the day at No. 1 singles with a 6-3, 7-6 win over Allie Seranki, while classmate Gina DiGiacomo posted a 4-6, 6-3, 6-2 win over Ansley Scudder at No. 2 singles. Saint Joseph's freshman Margaret Mullaney earned a 6-3, 6-2 win over Sarah Sykes at No. 3 singles, and SJU senior Lauren Kuhmerker posted a 6-0, 4-6, 7-5 victory over Rachel Rohinsky at No. 4 singles. Hawks' junior Tristin Reppert downed Jacqui Bonder 6-3, 3-6, 6-4 at No. 5 singles to earn SJU's sixth point as the Hawks improved to 4-5 on the season with the win.
