Season-Best Times Aplenty for Women's Track at Yale
Feb. 2, 2008
NEW HAVEN, Conn. - The veteran trio of Nicole McMullen, Jordan Teuber and Andrea Florida fueled the SJU women's track team at Yale's Giegengack Invitational this weekend. McMullen started the Hawks off with a second-place showing in the long jump (5.50m/18' ½''). She then followed that performance with the team's season-best 400m-dash time (58.52) en route to eighth place. Teuber, the senior captain, used a more versatile approach to garnering her accolades, posting season bests in the triple jump, 60m dash and 200m dash. In her season debut in the triple jump, Teuber leapt 36' 7'' (11.15m) for seventh place. After qualifying for the 60m dash finals, Teuber ran to a fifth place showing in a time of 7.88. Capping off the meet, she ran a season best time of 25.69 in the 200m, good for 13th. Teuber's results are tops on the SJU team as well. Florida, a cross country standout, had one of her best track meets in her college career. She doubled in the one mile (5:08.35) and 3,000m (10:10.54) runs, earning sixth and 11th, respectively. Adding to the success of the Hawks was Kristen Pierce who qualified for the 60m hurdles finals, finishing sixth in a time of 9.42. Natalie Miller tied for eighth in the high jump (5' ½'') and Kierstin Quinn posted a team-best 1:19.54 in the 500m dash. SJU will travel to Lewisburg, Pa. next week to compete in the Bucknell Winter Classic in the Hawks' final tune-up for the Atlantic 10 Championship the following week.
