Women's Cross Country Takes Third at Harry Groves Spiked Shoe Invitational

The Saint Joseph's women's cross country team had another strong outing Saturday, posting a third place finish at the Harry Groves Spiked Shoe Invitational. Hosts Penn State won the event at the PSU Blue/White Golf Course with 25 points. Bridget Franek of Penn State won the 6,000 meter race in a time of 21:02. The Hawks were led by junior Andrea Florida who ran to a 25th place finish overall in a time of 23:23. SJU bunched their top five runners in 57 seconds, and their top seven in 1:22. Just 20 seconds behind Florida was freshman Aimee Chegwidden (23:43) in 31st place and junior Amy Rhein (23:52) followed in 35th place. Freshman Christina Morelli (24:18), sophomore Anna Cushing (24:20), junior Juli Stensland (24:32), and freshman Laura Faller (24:45) rounded out the top seven for SJU in 42nd, 44th, 46th, and 56th places, respectively. Freshman Jessica Di Cicco (76th/25:52) and junior Katie Pencek (96/26:55) capped the Hawk roster at Penn State. Saint Joseph's races one more time at Lafayette's Leopard Invitationa1 on October 13 before they host the Atlantic 10 Championship at Belmont Plateau in Philadelphia, Pa.
